Denis Mennis - Reviewer

My name is Denis, I was born in the mid 60's and grew up on a council estate in London's East End.  I've done all the normal things that kids did in those days like lighting fires and making camps on bombs sites and wasnt really into music as a youngster, that is until I heard God Save the Queen - I was never the same after that.During those early days, I got heavily into The Pistols, The Clash and Sham 69 and The Cockney Rejects, which...
Paul Aitch

I am Paul Aitch and I'm Leeds born and bred.My first ever gig was in 1973 when I went to see Slade at Leeds University. However, it wasn't until 1977 that my gigging days really started. After hearing the Jam's "In The City" in a Leeds city centre pub and then later seeing The Sex Pistols "Pretty Vacant" video on Top of the Pops, off came the hair, on went the ripped jeans and safety pins. For 3 years I went to gig almost ever...
Vincey Boi - Site Owner

I decided to develop the Studs and Punks website in early 2008, to try and fill the huge gap left by the Punk & Oi website, and to give me the opportunity to put something back into the punk scene by helping support the huge number of less known bands, sites and promoters out there. For me punk is a passion that I have had since experiencing the punk rock explosion back in the late 70s. I still enjoy all of the or...

Fungalpunk Dave AKA OMD - Reviewer

What do ya wanna know? This is Fungalpunk/OMD - as real as yer want it with no pretensions or ego. I like my punk real and diverse and am quite happy to seperate the shite from the shining at my own leisure. I work my ass off for no financial gain but that isnt a complaint - the complaint is why cant other fuckers who claim to be punk as fuck get stuck in and help the scene. This isnt a fuckin joke and not some game in which to socialise and talk...
Jillian Abbene (Little Italian Cookie) - Reviewer

Harboring a solid base in the USA, Jillian has been bridging the gap from across the pond and beyond with non-regurgitated punk rock for about 5 years now.  Admittingly, she cannot seem to resist the mayhem of a crackin’ live gig, the transfer of a stellar CD, and most of all, the blunt insight interview to those who participate and support the scene. Although she’s an old-schooler, she’s no pigeon! Her open-mindedness to n...

Moo, to most people I seem to grace the presence of but really I am infact a Steve!

"Roots Radicals" by Rancid got me into punk when I first tuned into Radio One and Steve Lamacq at the great age of 12 back in 1995.
Who knew back then what a mere song about a bus journey would lead to?!

I bought a guitar as soon as I got a job at 15 and I still play it now...

Moo
Musically I listen to a lot of ska-punk (Less Than Jake, Mad Caddies), hardcore (AFI, The Bronx), punk (Misfits, Rancid) and more!  There's no limit to what goes on my stereo...I'm very open minded!

I've played guitar, bass and even trumpet over the years in punk, rock and ska bands and also play harmonica, drums and mandolin on occasion!

I still noodle around with an old band of mine from time to time on guitar for "reunion" shows and I'm probably most proud of that band as in 2005 we managed
to play a small tour in the UK organised and promoted by Radio One and the BBC!

On bass I played in a band with legendary guitarist Robbie Gladwell (guitarist for Steve Harley's Cockney Rebel and Suzi Quattro)

I sometimes play acoustic shows covering anything from Green Day to Bad Religion!

You'll see that I only speak the truth in my reviews....sadly no matter what studio you record and produce your album in, if you're shit.... you're shit!
You can't polish a turd and I may just let you know that!

A child of the 50s, remembers the 60s, partied in the 70s and was hung-over in the 80s.

Used to sit in David Bowie’s garden, MainMan’s reception, Biba’s shop window and leaned on the jukebox in SEX, stood up occasionally.

Raised in Fulham by very cool parents and a stone’s throw from The Nashville, The Greyhound, Hammersmith Odeon and
Kings Road. Still mourns the Speakeasy and Wardour Street’s Marquee plus other deceased London music venues.

Was surrounded by punk squats in the 70s and hung out at Beggar’s Banquet basement studio watching punk bands drink and rehearse while avoiding electrocution. Went to Lindsay Kemp’s mime classes with punk goddess Jordan, we were both rubbish.

Grew up with Paul Cook and got hit over the head by Sid’s guitar at the Speakeasy. Saw many iconic gigs back in the day including New York Dolls at Biba’s Rainbow Room and Ziggy Stardust’s farewell show at Hammersmith.

Lived in NY & LA in ’79 where the
US punk scene was still active, mainly went to gigs and posed a lot in a leather jacket. Produced and directed fringe theatre and still dabbles in publicity work. Works at Ealing Studios and recently formed a production company.

Always listening to music and reads constantly, re-learning guitar and loves all things creative. Still writes with pen and paper. Doesn’t do Facebook but tweets randomly. Started to talk to people at bus stops.
